New Land At Walt Disney World Means A New World Of Possibilities

Walt Disney World is ready to do something big. With the purchase of new land just outside of the resort walls, there has been a lot of speculation as to what they’ve got in store. Of course, there are a few interesting little tidbits about this purchase.

The just acquired land won’t be used for any theme parks. Walt Disney World could use their new acquisition for a mandated water treatment site, which is required by Florida law. This purchase enables Disney to use the current area occupying the current water treatment facility inside the resort for something even bigger.

What’s the Mouse got in store for the guests this time? We know Universal is working on a third park. Walt Disney World would be insane to not try and build a new one of their own. Galaxy’s Edge will be the closest thing Disney has to a new park when it opens in 2019. That’s going to be a big event. Will it be enough to unseat Universal’s 3rd park?

After the Galaxy’s Edge honeymoon phase is over with, WDW has a few things in the pipeline for its 50th Anniversary Celebration. We know Tron Lightcycle Coaster is coming to the Magic Kingdom. There’s also the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster and Ratatouille dark ride coming to Epcot. The resort is booked for the next few years.

These future plans have no effect on WDW’s desire to build something in the now available section of land. Years of speculation has been pointing to the Villains Park. This was said to be Disney’s 5th park quite some time ago. The rumor has been brought back up because of the new land purchase.

The main concept of the Villains park was to focus heavily on the Disney Villains (obviously). It was believed to be a thrill seekers park. You’d expect it to be a bit more geared to adults. This is similar to what Universal, Sea World, and Busch Gardens have done. WDW would add a few coasters, thrill rides, and perhaps we’d get the Halloween Horror Nights event at Disney (that’s not likely to happen).

There’s also a chance Disney decides to build a new hotel, shopping complex, or water park. If the amount of land they’ve not got available inside the resort is true, that’s enough to build a 5th park and a few hotels. Imagine a villain themed hotel to go along with their new park.

There are so many crowd issues as Walt Disney World. Adding a 5th park might control some of that. Walt Disney World has the biggest attendance of any theme/amusement park in the country.

With attendance being at an all-time high, the demand is also greater. Walt Disney World is constantly pushing the envelope. They’ve added some great new attractions over the years. Guests demand to see new and innovative experiences at the parks and anywhere on Disney property.

Whether it be a new park or something totally different, the newly available land will certainly be used wisely. We don’t know what that’ll be yet, but, you know Disney is hard at work figuring out details. It’ll be interesting to see what they come up with.
