Hip Hop: Broke’N’Phono Are Here To Make You Say Rewind That

Hip Hop

Over the years, Hip Hop has morphed into more than just music, battling, and diss tracks. From Melly Mel to LL Cool J, to Jay and Nas, and now the new age verses of artists like Lil Durk and Da Baby, Hip Hop is still at the forefront of music. Now emerges another team of MC and Producer in Broke’N’Phono who intends to make the average Hip Hop head say “rewind that”.

For the new school rappers and fans, that term has followed Hip Hop mostly in the 90s. It refers to a song where a bar was so ill that the listener had to stop the track and rewind it back so they could catch what the rapper was saying. Not here to diss any of the new school guys, but that’s been missing in Hip Hop for some time now.

Broke’N’Phono hopped in a time machine and provided Hip Hop with a few “rewind that moments” in their debut collab album “Satan’s Little Miracle” which dropped November 14th, 2021 under the UK-based Indie label Bard Picasso. Broke MC, the award-winning writer/director/actor hailing from Brooklyn, New York has been in the Hip Hop scene since 2005, releasing 12 projects under his moniker.

Teaming up with UK producer, Phono proved to be a match made in heaven. With Phono’s gratifying beats, Broke MC unleashed hell on the Hip Hop scene with bars like this these off the song titled “Simulacrumbs”.

The mask I wear doesn’t weaken me, / I’m not hiding behind it / it keeps the reaper out my vicinity / Headlines sum it up indecently / And lives are on the lines that the blind refuse to read between; it’s common decency

No mumble rap here as Broke MC and his counterpart on the song, Homeboy Sandman trade verses discussing the COVID-19 mask mandates around the world. What makes underground Hip Hop so strong is that it’s not about the success or Grammys that are garnered from their music. Hip Hop and Rap are two different genres within themselves. “Satan’s Little Miracle” is a true testament to that statement. For this MC and Producer duo, it’s about displaying their talents on their own terms.

Their 18-song debut is a collection of dope beats and refreshing lyrics. For true underground fans, it’s like taking a voyage back in history and finding Gangstarr before the rest of your neighborhood did.
