WWE: There Was No Reason for the Massive Amount of Layoffs

The WWE has had the biggest amount of layoffs in the history of the company. In the past, they have cut some talent after WrestleMania. But it’s usually 5-7 superstars. However, this time they would end up laying off several talent, backstage people, and agents as well. However, this round of layoffs saw all three go. Some of the more notable ones to be released were Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Zack Ryder, Curt Hawkins, EC3, Rowan, Eric Young, and so on.

While you expect some of them to go after WrestleMania, there was zero reason why they needed to cut the amount of people they did. Lets go back to the start, A few days prior to all the cuts, it was announced that the XFL had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Then we would find out that the WWE is deemed an “essential” business. This was reported after reports came out of Linda McMahon pledging 18.5 million dollars in PAC to the state of Florida. Then they all of sudden get rid of a lot of talent.

Yes, I am aware that times are tough right now. There are many places closed and many that are on limited hours. There are many people out of work. However, the WWE isn’t about to go under or declare bankruptcy. Anyone who doesn’t see a problem with this is a fool. The WWE stock has continued to go up in the last month. As of Friday, the WWE stock closed at around $40 dollars a share.

In my humble take, there was no valid reason why the WWE needed to release everyone that they have. People are also forgetting that the timing is interesting to say the least. AEW and Impact wrestling taped a lot of episodes for the next several weeks. So any of the people released are going to be out of money for a long time.
