Cleveland Cavaliers: A Fan Letter To Kevin Love

Cavaliers Kevin Love

Let me start by saying the following statement.

I’ll always admire Kevin Love for his stance on mental health awareness. As someone who’s struggled with those issues for over half my life, I admire his bravery for speaking out. With that being said, please kindly get your head out of your butt.

Shame on you, Kevin Love.

You’re a professional athlete being paid millions (and far more than he should be for his current production) to compete at a high level on the court. It is obvious you feel Cleveland and the Cavaliers organization is beneath you. I suppose they are no longer worth your time or effort. For that, the city would like to give you a giant middle finger.

The Cavaliers gave you a massive contract extension. You are owed over $30 million for the next 2 years. Recent stats show you are probably worth the veteran minimum. Yeah, the Cavs tried to trade you. That obviously hurts any player. But, doesn’t it hurt you just a little that nobody is willing to trade for a washed-up, injury-prone, and overpaid big man like yourself?

You’ll still get your $30 million a year. If the Cavs don’t trade you, they’ll buy you out (and they will, because, again, nobody is going to trade for you) just like they did Andre Drummond. However, Drummond didn’t give up on the court. Yeah, he might have not played his butt off, but he also didn’t casually walk along the baseline during game action. This instance shows what kind of a teammate and person you truly are.

Living in Northern California, the Sacramento Kings are my second favorite team. I hear so much about Isaiah Thomas and his time with the Kings. When he was the cancer of the Cleveland locker room, essentially singling you out, I thought he was scum and hated Sacramento fans for standing by him. How dare he turn his back on his teammate. Now, here you are, turning your back on your team. I guess mahbe I should cut him some slack?

What’s most frustrating, you’re one of the two veteran leaders. Matthew Dellevadova and yourself are the lone guys from the 2016 title team. You don’t see Delly refusing to play. He’s making far less than you are. Sure, you might have had a more illustrious career. Right now, I don’t see you as much of an improvement.

I understood when you had issues with John Beilien. I blamed Colin Sexton when he let it slip there were issues between you two. I vowed to hate Isaiah Thomas forever. I want to apologize to all of them ( Although, full transparency Beilein was an awful coach). I want to apologize for taking your side. You are just as bad of an influence on the Cavs roster as J.R. Smith, Andre Drummond, Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, Jeff McInnis, or Ricky Davis ever were when sh-t hit the fan with this organization.

Again, thanks Kevin for all you’ve done to address mental health. That doesn’t give you the opportunity to do your own thing, giving up on your team. Thanks for your contributions to a title. Now, you can leave the city of Cleveland and never look back.
