TNT Championship Tournament Sets the stage for Cody/Lance Archer

A few weeks ago, AEW announced that they were presenting a new title. This title is the TNT Championship and the winner will be determined through an eight-man tournament. When the entire bracket got released, I came out and said how this title will more than likely go to Lance Archer. With the semi-finals happening tonight on AEW Dynamite, I don’t see any other person winning than Lance Archer. The semi-finals will see Cody Rhodes take on Darby Allin. The other side of the bracket will see Lance Archer take on Dustin Rhodes.

Cody Rhodes vs. Darby Allin

This isn’t the first time we are seeing these two At Fyter Fest last July, we saw Darby Allin make his in-ring debut against Cody. What was impressive about this was that here comes Darby Allin (an unknown to many) and he went the time limit with Cody Rhodes. The way the match finished, it was clear that these two would have another match. Many months later, Cody and Darby Allin ended up teaming up against the Inner Circle.  Cody would include the stipulation that if Cody and Darby won, then Darby would get his rematch with Cody.

More AEW: Who Should Main-Event Fight For The Fallen?

I’ve been saying for a long time that Darby Allin has become one of my favorite AEW wrestlers. The fact that they let him be him is what makes him great. Being that he is still young and hasn’t seen thirty, he hasn’t hit his peak yet. While AEW has been pushing him a lot, there’s no way I see him getting pass Cody in this tournament. After Cody lost to Jericho at Full Gear, he would never fight for a title again. Also, the storyline has been presented of Cody and Lance after Jake made his debut on the post Dynamite episode of Revolution.

Lance Archer vs. Dustin Rhodes

As we saw last week, Dustin Rhodes added a stipulation to his match against Kip Sabin. If he wasn’t able to defeat Sabin, then he would retire from being an in-ring performer. In the end, he would end up defeating Kip Sabin. Lance got to this match by defeating Colt Cabana.

While having Cody vs. Dustin 2 would be awesome.   I doubt they pull the trigger. They have had Lance Archer look like an unbeatable monster since he debuted on AEW. I don’t see any way possible they slow him down to lose to Dustin Rhodes. Unless something wonky happens, I see Archer going right through Dustin Rhodes.

Cody Rhodes vs. Lance Archer in the finals

Since we saw Jake the Snake Roberts debut after Revolution and say he was bringing a client, it was clear that they were going to cross paths. Also, you can have phenomenal promos being cut by Arn Anderson and Jake the Snake Roberts. If you ask any wrestling fan, Anderson and Roberts are two of the best talkers in the industry. In the end, I see Archer winning. With Archer winning, the belt will get a lot of credibility because Jake Roberts will put that title over and make it worthy.

Let us know who you think will win the TNT Championship and tune in every Wednesday night at 8pm to AEW Dynamite on TNT.
